I am a refugee from Cameroon living in the Vathy refugee camp in Samos, Greece. Due to my current legal status I am unable to work, however I volunteer six days a week as an interpreter for the medical organisation Med’EqualiTeam, who provide free primary healthcare to the refugee population living in the camp and the town of Vathy. I have worked with the organisation since November 2019, which is an example of my commitment to the project and my desire to work. I want to further my education in order to have access to wider job prospects in the future. I wish to contribute to society, particularly through humanitarian work and feel further academic study would enable me to do this. The opportunity to study would allow me to use my time in Samos effectively and provide me with something to work towards which will enable me to successfully work in the field I wish to pursue a career in.
